COFFEE CAKE MUFFINS

About This Recipe
"I have been making this recipe since I was first married. It comes from a Better Homes cookbook and it is one of our favorites."
Ingredients
1½ cups sifted flour
½ cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup shortening

1 well-beaten eggs
½ cup milk
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup chopped walnuts or 1/4 cup pecans
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon butter, softened
Directions
1.Sift 1½ cup flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl.
2.Cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3.Mix egg and milk.

4.Add all at once to flour mixture.

5.Stir just until moistened.

6.Combine brown sugar, nuts, 1 T.
7.flour, cinnamon and butter.
8.Place half of the batter in greased or paper lined muffin pans.
