Slowcooker gebruik omtrent 0.7kWh vir 8 ure. Baie meer energy efficient as om die stoof of oond vir 'n uur te gebruik. Die stoof en oond kan tussen 2-4 kWh vir 'n uur gebruik.


OLD FASHIONED RICE PUDDING IN YOUR  SLOW COOKER

Ingredients:
3/4 cup long-grain white rice
3 cups milk
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch salt
1/3 cup butter, melted
sweetened whipped cream

Directions:

In a colander, rinse rice thoroughly under cold water.
Put in lightly greased slow cooker. I use a round, 3.5 to 4 qt cooker.
Add remaining ingredients, except for butter & whipped cream.
Stir to combine.
Pour butter over rice mixture.
Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours, until rice has absorbed the liquid.
When ready to serve, spoon into dessert bowls and top with sweetened whipped cream.

Aartappels na gelang van hoeveel mense
Swaargewig foelie
METODE:
Was jou aartappels en laat hulle droogword. [baie belangrik, want anders word die foelie russerig en verkleur jou aartappels].
Prik die aartappels met ‘n vurk ‘n klomp kere.
Draai nou toe in die foelie.
Sit hulle in jou prutpot sonder enige water. [vertou my hulle gaan lieflik gaar word en ook nie ontplof nie.]
Bak op laag vir 10 ure of op Hoog vir 6 ure of totdat die aartappels sag is.

[die aartappels bak in die foelie in hulle eie water en is heerlik. Al wat gaan gebeur is dat in stede van die spierwit aartappel, gaan dit ‘n sagte beige kleur wees. Dis beslis vinniger in die oond, maar hierdie is so lekker, dis eintlik ‘n sonde.]

A whole range of stews, curries, bakes and braises can be easily adapted for the slow cooker. Follow these simple steps to ensure success.
Step 1: brown your meat
Meat will not brown in a slow cooker and needs to be browned on the stove top before being added to the recipe. This will greatly enhance the flavour, keep the meat succulent and cut down on the fat in the final dish.
Step 2: fill it correctly
Be aware that most of the heat comes from the sides of the slow cooker. To make sure everything cooks properly fill the pot between half to three-quarters full.
Step 3: adjust the liquids
In the slow cooker everything's cooked covered at a low heat, preventing the liquid from boiling away. To avoid being left with a huge pot of sauce use around half the liquid specified in the original recipe.
Step 4: add dairy later
If the recipe calls for dairy add it in the last hour of cooking to prevent it from curdling. Evaporated milk won't curdle and can be used at the time the recipe specifies.
Step 5: add rice and pasta last
Rice and pasta become starchy when slowly cooked, so cook them separately and add them to the pot just before serving.

Ingredients:
hot dogs sausage cut in half
brown sugar
1 lb bacon, cut into in the middle

Directions:
1 Take a piece of sausage and piece of bacon, wrap bacon around sausage.
2 Stick a toothpick through bacon to hold.
3 Place one layer in bottom of Crock Pot and cover with brown sugar.
4 Repeat until all the sausage have been used.
5 Cook 3 to 4 hours.

50g (60ml) botter of margarine
125 ml strooisuiker
2 eiers geklits
250 ml koekmeelblom
10 ml bakpoeier
1 ml sout
50 ml melk
1 blikkie onversoete tertappels (465g)
1 blikkie pynappelstukkies (410g)(gedreineer)
Fyn pypkaneel
Sous:
250 ml Ingedampte melk
250g suiker
5 ml geursel (vanilla of caramel)

Metode:
Klits botter en strooisuiker tot room, voeg eiers by.
Sif meel en bakpoeier en sout saam en voeg om die beurt met die melk by.
Skep in slow-cooker se bak.
Sny pynappelstukkies en appelstukkies kleiner, strooi dit egalig oor die deeg en druk dit in die deeg met ‘n vurk.
Strooi kaneel oor en sit foelie op pot en sit die deksel op.
Bak op High vir 1 uur. Toets of die deeg gaar is.
Kook die sous bestanddele saam vir paar minute.
Prik die deeg so bietjie met ‘n vurk, en gooi sous oor.
Kook vir nog 15 min op Low.
Laat bietjie afkoel en bedien met vla.

VINNIGE KLUITJIE-BOLAAG vir BREDIES / MAALVLEIS

1 kop koekmeel;
2 t bakp; 5 ml sout;
5 ml gemengde kruie;
1 klein uitjie, gerasper;
1 eier, geklits;
1/4 kop kookolie;
1/4 kop maas / ongegeurde jogurt - klits als saam en skep lepelsvol op gaar maalvleis of bredie.
Plaas deksel op.
Prut stadig vir nog so 'n halfuur tot gaar.
Werk WONDERLIK in 'n PRUTPOT!




Chocolate Fudge Pudding

1 cup flour
¾ cup brown sugar,
firmly packed 2 tbsp cocoa
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup milk
2 tbsp cooking oil
½ tsp vanilla
¾ cup brown sugar,
firmly packed 2 tbsp cocoa
1 ¾ cups hot water

Method: 
Place first group of ingredients in bowl, stir. Add milk, cooking oil and vanilla. Stir well. Turn into Slow cooker. Stir second amount of brown sugar and second amount of cocoa together well in bowl. Add hot water. Mix. Pour carefully over batter in slow cooker. Do not stir. Cover. Cook on High for about 2 hours until wooden pick inserted in centre comes out clean. Serves 6.

Die kombinasie van meel, botter en melk vorm vanself 'n WITSOUSIE tydens die gaarmaakproses. (As jy vir 'n spesiale geleentheid WIL spek en sampioene bysit, sal niemand jou keer nie!)
Vir 'n groot prutpot (6 liter): verdubbel bestanddele
4 medium aartappels
5 ml (1 t) sout
grofgemaalde swartpeper
30 ml (2 eetl) koekmeelblom
15 ml (1 e) botter
250 ml (1 kop) melk
Sny aartappels in dun skyfies - nie nodig om af te skil. Pak 'n lagie onderin 'n gesmeerde prutpotbak of oondskottel. Strooi bietjie van die sout, peper en meel oor elke laag en stip met klontjies botter. Herhaal tot als opgebruik is. Plaas deksel op en bak +/- 2 ure op HOOG in prutpot.
Gewone oond: Bedek met foelie en bak +/- 1 uur by 180 grade C. Verwyder foelie en bak nog 15 minute tot goudbruin.

Neem 2k stampmielies, en 1k droë rooi bone, week dit oornag.
Plaas dit die volgende oggend ( spoel en gooi water af) in PRUTPOT.
Voeg by: 2 k groenbone , 250g gesnipperde spek, aromat en swart peper na smaak en
3 E botter. Bedek met water.
Sit deksel op en laat prut op LOW!
Ek wil net noem, na die week van die droë bone, kook dit net eers vinnig vir omtrent 10 minute voordat jy dit saam met al die ander goed in jou prutpot plaas. Dit bevat 'n Toksien wat eers vernietig moet word. Dit geld vir enige ander droë bone wat jy in prutpot gaan gebruik. Onthou in die toekoms: DIS BAIE BELANGRIK!!

Pak ui onder in slowcooker.  Pak vleis bo-op en daarna die waterblommetjies.Gooi water oor.Pak aartappels bo-op en gooi sout en peper oor.Laat vir 4 ure ip High kook.Druk aartappels fyn en stel die slowcooker vir laaste 1 en 'n half op auto.
Bedien met rys en beetslaai.
