TOMATO BREDIE





SIMPLE TOMATO BREDIE

Ingredients:
45 ml oil
1 large onion, sliced
3 ml Robertsons Ground Cloves
10ml Robertsons Crushed Chillies
1 Robertsons Cinnamon Stick
1 kg mutton, cubed
2 cans (410 g) chopped tomatoes
500 ml water
4 medium potatoes peeled and quartered
10 ml sugar
30ml KNORR Brown Onion Soup

Method:

Heat oil and brown the onions. Add Robertsons Ground Cloves, Robertsons Crushed Chillies and Robertsons Cinnamon Stick.
Add mutton and brown. Add tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes.
Add the water and simmer for 30 minutes.
Add potatoes, sugar, salt and pepper, and simmer for a further 30 minutes.
Mix the KNORR Brown Onion Soup with a little water to form a smooth paste and stir into the bredie then allow to simmer until thickened.
Serve with yellow rice.

Hierdie is 'n tradisionele Suid-Afrikaanse resep.


25 ml botter of margarien
2 groot uie, gekap
1 knoffelhuisie, gekneus
1.5 kg lamsvleis of skaapvleis in blokkies gesny
10 ml sout
bietjie aftreksel, water of wyn
500 g aartappels in skywe gesny
1 kg medium tamaties, geskil en gekap
5 ml witsuiker
2 ml gedroogde tiemie
5 ml gekapte vars marjolein (marjoram)

Verhit die botter in 'n pan en braai die uie en knoffel vir omtrent 5 minute of tot die uie deurskynend is. Voeg vleis by en braai vinnig tot bruin aan alle kante. Voeg sout, peper en bietjie van die aftreksel, water of wyn by en prut, bedek, vir 90 tot 120 minute of tot die vleis begin sag word. Voeg die aartappels, tamaties, suiker, tiemie en marjolein by en kook vir nog 'n uur. Bedien met rys.
