CHILLI JAM



Chilli Jam

  • rocess the chilli, onion, garlic and water in a food processor until finely chopped.
  • Transfer to an 18cm (base measurement) saucepan. Add the sugar, vinegar, lime juice and fish sauce. Stir over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Increase heat to medium-high and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 35-40 minutes or until the jam jells when tested (see tip). Spoon the hot jam into clean, dry jars. Seal. Invert for 2 minutes. Set aside to cool.*TASTE*

    Ingredients
    100g / 3.5oz sliced chillies with pith and seeds removed
    750g / 1.5lb
    sliced red peppers with pith and seeds removed
    50g / 1.5 oz
    grated fresh root ginger
    350ml
    cider vinegar
    1kg / 2.2lb
    sugar with added pectin
    50ml
    lime juice
    1 teaspoon
    salt
    Cooking Directions

    Finely chop the peppers and chillies.
    Place them in large pan
    Add the ginger and vinegar and slowly bring to simmering point
    Add sugar, lime juice and salt stirring until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture begins to bubble
    Boil for 3-4 minutes and then remove from heat.
    Cool for 5 minutes then pour into clean, sterilised jars and seal with vinegar proof lids

    Ek het Sondag vir die eerste keer gemaak en dit is heerlik! 200g rooi chillies ontpit en baie fyn gekap,
    1kg suiker,
    400ml appel asyn en
    2 bak appels. Appels is vir die stol proses verstaan ek.
    Gooi alles in ń pot en kook stadig vir so 15 min (dit kook oor!!!)
    En toets op ń koue piering of dit stol as dit koud is, anders kook jy dit net nog ń rukkie.
    Was my eerste probeer en dis regtig baie lekker en WARM!!
