HOENDER GEREGTE IN SLOW COOKER

SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN
The grated fresh ginger in this classic Chinese recipe makes the chicken extra sweet. Substitute pork tenderloin in place of chicken thighs, if desired.

1 cup chopped onion (about 1 medium)
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons lower-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon grated peeled fresh ginger
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 (8-ounce) cans pineapple chunks in juice, drained
1 large green bell pepper, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
1 large red bell pepper, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
3 cups hot cooked white rice
Combine first 12 ingredients in an electric slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 4 hours. Serve over rice.*My Recipe* 16/02/13

1 Hoender opgesny in stukke
1ui gekerf
½ groen en ½ rooi soetrissie repies gesny
1blikkie geskilde gekerfde tamaties
125ml Swart Calamara olywe ontpit
Sout en peper
1 t Appelkooskonfyt
125ml Hoenderaftreksel
Smeersel>
2t Cumin
2t Paprika
1t vars gemmer gerasper
2 knoffelhuisies gekerf
1e olyfolie
Smeer jou hoenderstukke goed in met die Smeersel en plaas in yskas vir 30min
Braai hoender bruin in pan [skep uit eenkant][
Voeg uie, soetrissies in pan en braai tot glanserig
Voeg tamaties en olywe by en kook vir 3min.
Meng hoenderaftreksel , sout en peper en appelkooskonfyt

BLATJANG HOENDER IN SLOW-COOKER
375 ml mangoblatjang
125 ml water (½ koppie)
30 ml bruinsuiker ( 2 eetlepels)
62 ml bruinuiesoppoeier ( 1 pakkie)
12 hoenderborsies, ontvel en ontbeen
Knypie rooipeper
Plaas hoender in prutpot.
Meng res van bestanddele goed.
Gooi oor hoenderstukke, plaas deksel op en prut vir 4h op Med. of 2-3h op High

 SLOW-COOKED BARBECUED CHICKEN
*Slow-Cooker*
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cut-up whole chicken
1/2 cup cola soft drink
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons bourbon
1 lemon, sliced
1. Stir together first 4 ingredients in a small bowl. Sprinkle over chicken. Place chicken in a single layer in a lightly greased 6-qt. slow cooker.
2. Whisk together cola soft drink and next 4 ingredients in a small bowl. Slowly pour mixture between chicken pieces (to avoid removing spices from chicken). Place lemon slices in a single layer on top of chicken.
3. Cover and cook on HIGH 5 hours (or on LOW 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 hours) or until done.

2 uie, fyngekerf
1 teelepel knoffelvlokkies
2 teelepel breyani-mengsel
1eetlepel masala
1 eetlepel kerriepoeier
1 eetlepel borrie
2 kg gevriesde hoenderstukke
Sout na smaak
1 koppie kookwater
5 groterige aartappels, in groterige stukke gesny
2 eetlepels bruin suiker
250ml room
3 koppies gesoute rys, halfgaar en gedreineer
1 koppie gesoute bruinlensies, halfgaar en gedreineer
METODE
Braai uie in kookolie tot bruinerig.
Seel die buitekant van die aartappels in olie en uiemengsel (dit voorkom dat aartappels fynkook).
Haal die aartappels uit en seel die vleis in die uiemengsel.
Gooi speserye en aartappels by en roer goed.
Voeg sout na smaak by.
Gooi die suiker en kookwater by die vleismengsel en sodra dit kook, skep dit in die prutpot.
Skep 'n laag rys en dan 'n dun lagie lensies bo-op vleismengsel en herhaal die lae. Die laaste laag moet rys wees.
Sit deksel op en sit op stadig vir 5 ure of hoog vir 3½ ure.

NIE sout nie - die soppoeier het genoeg in!
Bedek met lagie opgesnyde 2 wortels, 2 aartappels, 500g sampioene en 1 ui.
Strooi lagie bruin uiesop-poeier bo-oor.
Plaas nou 5 hoenderporsies (of tjoppies of frikkadelle) bo-op groente, nog
soppoeier, vleis- of hoenderspeserye en nog 125 ml water.

Mediterranean Roast Turkey Breast

Ingredients
1 (4 pound) boneless turkey breast, trimmed
1/2 cup chicken broth, divided
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 cups chopped onion
1/2 cup pitted kalamata olives
1/2 cup oil-packed sun dried tomatoes, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon Greek seasoning (such as McCormick's®)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Directions
Place turkey breast, 1/4 cup chicken broth, lemon juice, onion, kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, Greek seasoning, salt, and pepper in the crock of a slow cooker. Cover; cook on Low for 7 hours.

Braai Chorizo wors so 2min en voeg tamaties by laat net opkook voeg Hoender by asook jou ander bestd. en kook vir 2-3min..nou Slow-Cooker toe**

2. helfte van uie mengsel en koolmengsel

Coca Cola Barbecue Chicken
Ingredients:
4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (mine were frozen when I put them in the slow cooker)
1 lemon, quartered
1 onion, quartered
1 20 ounce bottle of BBQ sauce (any brand or flavor you prefer)
1 can of Coca Cola
Directions:
Peel onion and cut into quarters. Cut lemon into quarters. Place chicken breasts in crock pot. Place onion and lemon quarters on top. Pour in entire bottle of BBQ Sauce and entire can of Coke. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Healthy Mama BBQ Chicken
3 medium unpeeled  sweet potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch pieces, about 2 cups.
2 large green pepper, cut into strips or cubes, about  2 cups.
1 large red pepper, cut into strips or cubes, about 1 cup.
2 zucchini, chopped, about 2 cups.
2 cups chopped onion.
2 tablespoon quick cooking tapioca (or flour, or some other thickening agent).
2 pounds chicken thighs or drumsticks.
2 15-ounce can of tomato sauce.
4 tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoon ground yellow mustard.
2 clove garlic, finely minced, about 2 tablespoons.
1 teaspoon salt

Chicken Curry
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons curry powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1.5-2 pounds chicken thighs, or breasts, cut into 1 inch pieces.
2 cups chopped peeled sweet potatoes.
2 cups baby carrots.
2 cup coarsely chopped mango.  Or 2 cans of chopped mango.
1 cup chopped onion.
1 zucchini chopped, about one cup.
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 chicken bouillon, one per bag.
.5 cup raisins (for garnish)
.5 cup peanuts or cashews (for garnish)
Divide everything into two, one gallon freezer bags, shake it up, seal, label and put in the freeze.

HIERDIE LYK NET SO VREK LEKKER VIR DIE PRUTPOT:
SLOW COOKER ORANGE CHICKEN:

Ingredients:
• boneless chicken breasts, chopped into small chunks (I used about 4)
• 1/3 cup flour
• olive oil
• 1/2 Tbl. salt
• 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
• 3 Tbl. ketchup
• 6 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate (thaw or throw it in the microwave for 45 seconds)
• 4 Tbl. brown sugar
HOW TO COOK:
In a bowl, mix the orange juice, brown sugar, vinegar, salt, and ketchup. Pour the flour in a small bowl. Cover the chicken breast chunks in flour and shake off the excess.
Pour a small amount of olive oil in a skillet and brown the flour-covered chicken.
The chicken doesn't need to be fully cooked since it's going in the crock pot.
After the chicken is done cooking, pour the pieces into the crock pot. Then cover the chicken with your sauce mixture and give the pot a stir.
Cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 2-3.
Serve over rice and even add veggies if you want a healthier meal.*25/3/13
