PASTA AND CHICKEN


Flippen LEKKER Chicken and Pasta Pot

‘FLIPPEN LEKKER’ dish for any occasion. You can make it outside in a cast iron pot on the braai, or just make it on the stove in a cast iron pot that has a flat surface. whatever you do, don’t invite too many people because it’s so delicious that seconds is inevitable. When doing this dish on the braai, make sure it’s not too hot but have coals ready to add when needed.

Ingredients
1 Kg Chicken breasts – boneless or chicken portions – 12 pieces.
Mushrooms
1 Large onion
1 Packet of Cook in Sauce mushrooms and wine flavour
500 g Paste Rice
250 ml Coconut cream or milk
Olive Oil
Cheddar cheese – 1 cup grated
2 Tomatoes
Black pepper

Preparation
Cut the chicken in small chunks
Slice the mushrooms, onions, red and green peppers.
Grate the Cheese
Slice the two tomatoes
Method
Heat the pot and add the olive oil. Sauté the onions, red and green pepper until lightly golden brown, add the chicken pieces, brown them lightly. Add in the mushrooms and mix well. Pour in The Cook in Sauce and add water until covered. The pasta rice must be added to this mixture, mix well and cover. Keep on slow heat for 45 min to 1 hour or until the pasta is cooked.

Take off the heat. Stir in the cream, sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the top and place tomatoes on top of the cheese. Grind with black pepper and place under the grill if you are making it on the stove, or otherwise add hot coals on the lid for 30 minutes.

Kook enige pasta.

Sny hoender borsies (4) in blokkies en braai met hoender spice en knoffel. Sit pakkie bits of bacon by en braai nog.

Maak n lekker wit/kaas sous.
Meng alles in groot bak en sit nog kaas bo-op.
Bak tot kaas bruin is.
Lekker slaai of beetslaai .*

Hoederlewertjies met pasta
500 g penne of macaroni
500 g hoenderlewers, skoongemaak
1 ui, fyn gekap
250 g knopiesampioene, in skywe gesny
1 blik (430g) hoender-roomsop
125 ml (1/2k) cheddarkaas, gerasper

METODE:
Kook die pasta in genoeg vinnig kokende water tot sag, maar ferm. Dreineer en hou eenkant.
Braai die hoenderlewers in n bietjie olie tot net gaar en goudbruin buite-om. Verwyder uit die pan en sny in kleiner stukkies, Sorteer die ui tot sag en deurskynend. Braai die sampioene tot bruin. Voeg die die hoenderlewers weer by asook die hoender-roomsop en gerasperde kaas. Meng goed en verhit tot warm. Giet die hoenderlewermengsel oor die pasta en meng deur.
Genoeg vir 5-6 mense.
