SLOW-COOKER PASTA PAP BROOD CAKES





Slow Cooker Lasagna

"Start with a skillet and finish with a slow cooker. A saute of onion, garlic and ground beef is simmered with tomato and oregano, then layered in a slow cooker with raw lasagna noodles and a creamy blend of cottage cheese, Parmesan and mozzarella."
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound lean ground beef (500g)
1 onion, chopped
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce (850ml)
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste (185g)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 (12 ounce) package lasagna noodles (375g)
12 ounces cottage cheese(375g)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
16 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (500g)
DIRECTIONS:
1.In a large skillet over medium heat cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until brown. Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt, and oregano and stir until well incorporated. Cook until heated through.
2.In a large bowl mix together the cottage cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
3.Spoon a layer of the meat mixture onto the bottom of the slow cooker. Add a double layer of the uncooked lasagna noodles. Break to fit noodles into slow cooker. Top noodles with a portion of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layering of sauce, noodles, and cheese until all the ingredients are used.
4.Cover, and cook on LOW setting for 4 to 6 hours

MOEITEVRYE MACARONI & KAAS (

Daar’s géén ander kookmetode wat so min moeite met sulke goeie resultate beloon nie. Dit neem vyf minute om als bymekaar te gooi en jy’t die hele Saterdagoggend vir jouself; die prutpot doen die werk!
Genoeg vir 4 tot 6 mense
Jy benodig:
4 koppies (1 liter) melk
2 eiers
1 t (5 ml) sout
1 t (5 ml) mosterdpoeier (of vervang mosterd en sout met
2 hoenderekstrakblokkies)
½ t (2,5 ml) fyn peper
1 t (5 ml) droë pietersielie/gemengde kruie
½ pak (250 g) macaroni/elmbogies
2-4 koppies gerasperde kaas (van ’n skerp kaas soos cheddar hoef jy minder te gebruik)
Opsioneel: ½ ui (fyn gekap)
of vars gesnipperde spinasie of rooiworsie-ringetjies
Maak só:
• Smeer binnekant van prutpot met botter of olie of spuit met kleefwerende sproei. • Klits melk, eiers en geurmiddels saam.
• Roer by kaas, macaroni en groente of worsies (indien verkies) in prutpot.
• Bedek die prutpot en kook vir 2-5 uur* op laag of op 1-3 uur* op hoog.
• Sit die macaroni-en-kaas saam met ’n vars slaai voor.
* Die gaarmaaktyd sal afhang van hoe groot die pot is, hoeveel watt die pot is en die aanvangstemperatuur van die bestanddele.
Weerstaan maar die versoeking om kort-kort te loer, want elke keer dat die deksel gelig word, verleng dit die kooktyd met 20-30 minute.

Slow-Cooker Sour Cream Cheesecake

1. 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
2. 2 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
3. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
4. 2/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
5. Salt
6. 12 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
7. 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
8. 2 large eggs
9. 1 teaspoon pure almond extract
10. 1 cup sour cream
11. In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter, cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of the sugar and a pinch of salt. Press the crumbs over the bottom and 1 inch up the side of a 6-inch springform pan that's 3 inches deep.
12. In a standing mixer fitted with a paddle, combine the cream cheese with the flour, the remaining 2/3 cup of sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Beat at medium-high speed until smooth, about 2 minutes. Scrape down the side of the bowl and add the eggs and the almond extract. Beat at medium speed until blended. Add the sour cream and beat until smooth. Pour the batter into the springform pan.
13. Fill a 6- to 7-quart round or oval slow cooker with 1/2 inch of water and position a rack in the bottom. Set the cheesecake on the rack. Cover the slow cooker with a triple layer of paper towels and the lid. Turn the cooker to high and cook for 2 hours without peeking. Turn off the heat and let stand until the slow cooker has cooled, 1 hour.
14. Remove the lid and the paper towels and transfer the cheesecake to a rack to cool to room temperature, about 1 hour. Cover the cheesecake with plastic wrap and refrigerate until chilled, at least 4 hours.
15. Heat a sharp, thin-bladed knife under hot water; dry the knife. Carefully run the knife around the edge of the cheesecake. Release the spring and lift the cheesecake out of the mold. Cut into wedges and serve. Food &Wine 20/10/1

BASIC BROWN BREAD IN SLOW-COOKER

A basic brown bread that has a biscuit like texture and is excellent for morning or afternoon tea break.
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup plain flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp molasses
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 1/3 cups water
Method:
Combine first 4 ingredients in bowl. Stir together.
Add molasses, cooking oil and water. Mix until moistened. Turn into a greased slow cooker. Place 5 paper towels between top of slow cooker and lid. Place a matchstick or similar object between paper towels and edge of slow cooker to allow steam to escape. Do not lift lid for the first 1 ¾ hours cooking time. Cook on High for about 2 hours. Loosen sides with knife. Turn out onto rack to cool.

WHITE BREAD IN SLOW-COOKER

A simple white bread recipe cooked in a slow cooker.
Ingredients:
2 tsp sugar
1 ¼ cups warm water
1 ¼ oz / 8 g sachet dry yeast
2 cups plain flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp salt
1 cup plain flour
Method:
Stir first amount of sugar and warm water together in large bowl.
Sprinkle with yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes. Stir to dissolve yeast.
Add first amount of flour, second amount of sugar, cooking oil and salt. Beat on low to moisten. Beat on high for 2 minutes.
Knead this second amount of flour until a stiff dough forms. Grease bottom of slow cooker. Turn dough into slow cooker. Lay 5 paper towels between top of slow cooker and lid. Put a matchstick or similar object between paper towels and edge of slow cooker to allow steam to escape. Do not lift lid for the first 1 ¾ hours cooking time. Cook on High for about 2 hours. GINGERBREAD IN SLOW-COOKER

Ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, molasses and flour all combine to produce a delightful gingerbread slow cooker recipe.
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups plain flour
½ tsp baking soda
pinch salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
½ tsp cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
¼ cup butter or margarine
½ cup sugar
1 egg
½ cup light molasses
2 tablespoons hot water
½ cup sour milk
Method:
Mix flour with baking soda, salt, and spices; set aside.
Cream butter with sugar. Add egg and beat thoroughly.
Combine molasses and hot water; add gradually to creamed mixture, blending well.
Alternately add dry ingredients in thirds and sour milk in halves to creamed mixture, beating only until smooth after each addition.
Turn into a well greased and floured cake pan. Cover with 6 layers of paper towelling. Set in slow cooker.
Cover and cook on High for 2-3 hours.
Remove bake pan and let cool 10 minutes before removing bread.

GILLIAN SE LEKKER PAP IN DIE PRUTPOT

Bestandele:
2 - 3 koppies mieliemeel
500 ml kookwater
500 ml warm melk
kaas na smaak
heelpit mielies na smaak
5 - 10ml sout na smaak
Metode:
Meng die mieliemeel, water, melk en die sout in die prutpot (slowcooker)
Ek sit al vroeg middag die pot aan op High, maar as jy wil kan jy al in die oggend dit begin op “High”, en later afdraai na “Low” of “Auto” toe.
Die prut dan heel dag, so roer maar net af en toe, en voeg nog vloeistof by indien nodig.
As pap reg is, voeg die kaas en mielies ook by en roer deeglik.
Laat staan op “Low” om warm te bly tot benodig.

MIELIEPAP IN DIE SLOW COOKER

Dit hang natuurlik ook af van hoeveel mense jy voor moet maak. Vir hierdie groot pot het ek 4 koppies mielie meel, en 8 koppies kook water gebruik. Ek dink die norm is dubbel die hoeveelheid water teenoor die meel. Ek roer dit net deeglik sodat daar nie klonte is nie, en bietjie sout en klont botter ook by. Ek kyk uurliks daarna en roer weer 'n slag. As ek sien dit raak te dik, voeg ek bietjie kook water by, anders staan dit net eenvoudig en prut heel middag. Strooi bietjie kaas oor, of voeg tot bacon of mielies by as jul wil. Helena, ek is bevoorreg om mielie pap uit Ventersdorp te ontvang, so dit is nog lekker growwe meel. Dalk maak dit die verskil?

Amazing Slow Cooker Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
2 cups white sugar
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Directions
Spray crock of a large slow cooker with cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, whisk the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla until well combined. Whisk in the boiling water. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix well.
Pour the cake batter into the prepared slow cooker.
Set slow cooker to "Low". Cook until cake has no wet spots on top and has pulled away from the sides of the crock, about 3 hours. Turn off slow cooker and allow cake to rest for 30 minutes before serving.

Die "koek" het lekker uitgedraai....maar ek het 2 dinge hier geleer. Dit het 4 ure gevat en nie 3 nie. Gewoonlik as ek met my slowcooker werk, en ek tel die deksel op om die kos te roer, is daar mos stoom (waterigheid) aan die binnekant van die deksel. Mens hou dan net die deksel oor die pot en die water beland in die pot. Wel....ek het toe (uit gewoonte uit) ook die deksel oor die koek gehou...en daai kant van die koek was toe heel wat klammer as aan die ander kant. So ek moet volg keer onthou om die deksel vinnig te verwyder en op die toonbank neer te sit, en dit nie dreineer oor die koek nie. Die 2de les, is dat ek die resep gevolg het, en die koek beslag direk in die slowcooker bak, wat met spray en cook gespuit is, ingegiet. Hier sal ek ook eerder dit in 'n glas bak/pannetjie ingiet, en dan in die slowcooker plaas. Alhoewel die koek heeltemal los was, was dit 'n storie om dit daar uit te haal. Eers met 2 eierspane probeer, en toe maar 'n platter bo-oor die bak gesit, en die hele slowcooker bak onderstebo gedompel. Die koek het 'n hengse hou geval ween die hoogte van die bak. Sou mens die koek heel en lewendig in 'n bak kan uitkry, maak die 'n pragtige ovaal en klam koek, wat heel indrukwekkend sal lyk as dit mooi versier word

Pasta en kaas met bacon

1 blikkie Ideal melk
2ml cayenne pepper
4ml sout
1½ pak pasta (macaroni of gekrulde pasta)
250ml x 3 kaas
250g of 500g bacon (Ek hou van die meer bacon)
Water
Gooi alles in die slow cooker en meng deur.
Gooi genoeg water in tot al die pasta bedek is.
Ek gooi eers die melk in en dan die bacon en maak die bacon stukkies los van mekaar met ‘n aartappeldrukker, anders klou die bacon aanmekaar en word nie eweredig versprei nie.
Daarna gooi ek al die ander bestanddele by en meng.
Die oorspronklike resep sê jy moet dit 5 ure kook en mag nie die deksel oplig nie, maar moenie dit so doen nie.
Sit die slow cooker op hoog vir 1 uur, lig deksel en roer dan om vir nog ‘n uur. Sodra die pasta lekker sag is, sit die pot af. Indien die paste nog effe hard is, kook nog ‘n uur.
NS: onthou wanneer jy die deksel van ‘n slow cooker oplig gedurende die kookproses, vertraag jy die kooktyd met 20minute.

Metode:
Kook Mac. volgens aanwysing[al dente] dreineer
Rasper kaas,sny tamaties in ringetjies
Klits eiers saam met die melk
Smeer Slow-Cooker [ Bakskottel] met n bietjie botter
Pak lae :Macaroni>Tamaties>S/P>Kaas
Laaste laag moet Kaas wees bo-op..
Gooi eier en melkmengsel bo-oor stip met n paar klontjies botter
Stel Slow-Cooker op High vir so 30min.en op Med vir so 20min.
*en in die oond vir 25min by 180*C

Apple Cake

A rich, warm and satisfying apple cake recipe cooked in a slow cooker and easy to make.
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
½ tsp vanilla essence
1 ½ cups flour
¾ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp cloves
1 ½ cups diced pared apples
½ cup chopped pecans
Combine oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, baking soda, salt and spices; mix thoroughly. Mix in apples and pecans.Turn batter into a greases and floured cooker bake pan. Cover bake pan with lid. Set pan in slow cooker. Cover and cook on High 3 – 4 hours.Set pan on wire rack to cool. 8 – 10 servings
